Gotta love Ikea.  I was able to furnish the office for about 35% of the cost that buying commercial furniture would have cost and kept me remarkably under budget for this line item but now I know why the other stuff costs more…it’s assembled!  The stuff is terrifically made and durable and trendy but….unassembled.  Bear in mind I am handy and so is Kevin and so are my brothers and so are Conall and Mairen (Declan is better for entertainment than building) and even with all these handy people around we only got the equivalent of three exam rooms done today.  Good thing we have a week to go!

It was fun in its way, all working along side each other, using hex wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers and watching our language since there were young ears around.  We were sweating and feeling quite productive.  Chuck and Tom are a good team.  Together they assembled nearly 5 of the 12 storage cabinets that go in the rooms and would have finished more except we discovered that we were missing all 24 drawer fronts for the cabinets and without them the drawers cannot even be started.  I left a message for Harmony, my sales person at Ikea and I am sure she will get back to me tomorrow.  Kevin assembled 2 of the desks and together we did the third, Conall assembled several swivel chairs and a table for the waiting room and Mairen worked on a reception room table and step stools before heading to her friend’s house for the afternoon (lucky girl!).

While we were busy assembling furniture, the electricians were hard at work as were the floor guys.  We are getting closer and closer to the finish line and it’s looking like we really will make it!  The stuff from ABC Warehouse arrived yesterday and we have all the appliances we need to get underway.  Satellite TV will be installed tomorrow and the TVs will go up later in the week, the lab will be done tomorrow since the floor will be in and the supplies from Jack Foley Medical arrive on Thursday.  It’s a race to the finish!

Hammer, glue, and screw and each day will be your best!
